Mr. Harvey was born in Colby, Wisconsin on January 14, 1886. When a young man, he worked in Colby as a mechanic, and, for several years, was employed by the E.D. Loos Machine Shop. He also worked in New Holstein, Menasha and Waupaca as a mechanic before going to Mount Morris, Ill., in 1928 where he worked in the power plant of the Kable Printing Company for several years. For the past 20 years, he made his home in Rockford, Ill. He was employed by the Smith Oil Company of that city for several years before his retirement about eight years ago.
Older residents of Colby will remember Ross Harvey as a player on the local baseball teams of more than 50 years ago when the sport drew huge crowds here and in the surrounding towns.
Surviving are a brother, Robert Harvey of Hot Springs, Ark., and a half brother, Frank Harvey of Wausau, Wis.
