Wicker, Idella (19 Dec. 1869 - 10 Jan. 1963)

Mrs. Idella Wicker died at her home in Colby, Wis.  last Thursday morning at the age of 93 years. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Methodist church, Rev. Paul Doering officiating, and burial was made in the Colby Memorial cemetery (Colby, Wisconsin). Pall bearers were Jim Erickson, Robert Robertson, Charles Nickolus, Morris, Russell and Frank Wicker.

Idella Louise Wescott was born in Kaukauna on December 19, 1869, and received her education there. She moved to Colby with her parents at the age of 14 years and later moved with her family onto a farm east of Unity, Wis. Mrs. Wicker was a member of the first graduating class of Colby High School. She taught school in the Unity area until her marriage on October 31, 1894, at Colby to Frank Wicker who died March 12, 1949.

After their marriage, the couple moved to Medford, and, in 1914, they returned to the farm east of Unity, Wis. In 1922, they went back to Medford, and, after several years, Mr. Wicker retired and the couple moved to Stratford. In 1940, they came to Colby, Wis.

Surviving are four sons, Harold of Stratford, Vernon and Elmer of Colby and Kenneth of Milwaukee; three daughters, Mrs. Earl (Mildred) Robertson and Miss Evelyn Wicker of Colby and Mrs. (Marian) Erickson of Clyman; 19 grand children and 31 great grand children. In addition to her husband, six brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
