Miller, Crescentia (24 Feb. 1855 - 9 Jan. 1942)

A solemn requiem high mass was sung for Mrs. Crescentia Miller who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chris Bremer, on Jan. 9th, Monday morning at nine o’clock in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Rev. Paul Pitzenberger of Stanley was celebrant with Rev. C. D. Brady as deacon and Rev. Joseph Graf of Marshfield as sub-deacon. Father Pitzenberger also paid a glowing tribute to the deceased as a Christian mother who made a living, holy and pleasing sacrifice of her life.

Internment was made in the Dorchester cemetery.

The pallbearers were Frank Lukas, Leo Bauer, Norman Huss, Frank Stoiber, John Staab and Joseph Dessl. The flower girls were the Misses Adeline and Dorothy Stoiber, Rita and Anna Younke, Dolores Dessl and Mrs. Norman Muss.

Mrs. Miller was born Crescentia Jung in Rottenberg, Bavaria on Feb. 24, 1855. She was married in that country to Christian Younker in 1875. On March 19, 1882, they came to America and moved to a farm west of Dorchester, Wis. Mr. Younker was drowned while logging near Phillips on April 24, 1886.

On July 25, 1889 Mrs. Younker married William Miller who also preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1914.

After leaving the farm in 1914, Mrs. Miller lived in Dorchester until 1933 when she moved to Bloomer and lived there until 1937. The past five years she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Chris Bremer.

Mrs. Miller was one of the original settlers, a charter member of the Christian Mothers and of St. Louis’ church at Dorchester, and an active parishioner in spiritual and temporal things.

She leaves to mourn her loss six children, Joseph Younker and Anton Younker of Dorchester; Mrs. John (Anna) Fritsch, Spencer; Mrs. Chris (Mary) Bremer, Abbotsford; William Miller, Fifield; Miss Bertha Miller, Stanley. Two children died in infancy. She has 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
