Konecny, Emma Claudia (18 Mar. 1876 - 28 Feb. 1942)
Eastern Star rites for Mrs. Joseph Konecny who died early Saturday morning followed the funeral services conducted by the Rev. R. H. Browe at the home in the Town of Holton, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 and those held in the Little White Church at Dorchester at two o’clock.
Members of the Eastern Star had charge of the beautiful floral offerings and Masons acted as pallbearers. They were: R. H. Treat, C. W. Hoffman, Martin Anderson, Ralph Green, Abbotsford; A. J. Hennlich, Curtiss; and Robert Krohn, Marshfield. Internment was made in Memorial Cemetery, Dorchester, Wis.
Emma Claudia Rosin was born the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rosin at Lowell, Wis., March 18, 1876. At the age of four, she came to Colby with her parents. For four years she taught school in the vicinity of Dorchester and on Dec. 29, 1897 she became the bride of Joseph Konecny at Colby, Wis.
The young couple made their home on their farm 2 ½ miles east of Dorchester, Wis. To them were born 6 children: one son and two daughters survive their mother and one son, and two daughters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Konecny has been in ill health the past year. Four weeks ago she spent a week and a half at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. For years Mrs. Konecny has suffered with asthma and that together with a tumor and complications caused her death on Feb. 28.
The deceased was a member of the Abbotsford Order of Eastern Star and the Little White Church of Dorchester, Wis.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband; one son, Joseph, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Kaiser, Athens, and Miss Emma Konecny who teaches at Athens. There are also 3 grandsons: Joseph and George Konecny, and Karl Kaiser of Athens.
Five sisters also survive: Mrs. George Wells, Black Foot, Idaho; Mrs. Minnie Nedry, Wheaton, Ill., Mrs. Alvin Brotherton, Neillsville; Mrs. Anna Wagner, Cadott; and Mrs. Hugo Brehm, Colby, Wis. One brother, George, preceded her in death.
Among those from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Karl Kaiser and son, Mrs. Emma Konecny, Athens; Mrs. Anna Wagner, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wagner, Rev. Harry Lee, Cadott; Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Brehm and daughter, Minnie, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Sisco, Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Brotherton and son, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schaller, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Krohn and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Krohn, Marshfield; as well as friends from Athens, Medford, Colby, Abbotsford and Dorchester, Wis.
