Arndt, Velda (6 MAY 1950)

The Methodist Church, Withee, was the scene of a lovely wedding ceremony Saturday morning at 10 o’clock when Miss Velda Mae Arndt became the bride of Harvey Eugene Anderson. The Rev. James Irish officiated at the ceremony attended by 50 close relatives and friends of the young couple.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Arndt, Owen, while the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Anderson, Route 2, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.).

For the occasion the bride wore a gown of white taffeta with a long train, ney yoke, long sleeves that came to a point and edged with lace, a fingertip veil edged with lace rhinestone and a seeded pearl headdress. Her bouquet was of white calla lilies, with colored daisy streamers. Attending her as matron of honor was her sister-in-law, Joyce Arndt, Marshfield, wearing a gown of white satin with a sweetheart neckline and lace peplin. She carried a bouquet of blue and white daisies. Bridesmaid, Marcella June Anderson, sister of the groom, wore a dress of white satin, having a square neckline and peplin trimmed with crystal beads. Her flowers were white and yellow daisies. Attended as best man was George Arndt, Marshfield, and groomsman, Ernest Gay, Owen. Serving as ushers were Miss Lois Mengel and Mrs. Robert Mengel, sister of the bride. Bobby Mengel, nephew of the groom, acted as ring berer. Dolly Ann Arndt, sister of the bride, was flower girl and wore a white organdy dress that had a ruffled neckline trimmed in lace. She carried a basket of colored daisies.

The bride’s mother chose a gown of silk and wore a corsage of daisies for the occasion, while the groom’s mother wore a dress of aqua rayon faille, trimmed with black and also wore a shoulder corsage of daisies.

During the ceremony two vocal selections were sung by the Marking sisters. Later a dinner was served at the home of the bride’s parents for 75 guests.

The newlyweds will make their home on a farm north of Withee.

Out of town guests at the wedding were: Ed Gehrke and daughter of Cornell; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Robertson, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gehrke of Nekoosa and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stasko and daughter of Stanley.
