Franz, Amelia (15 Feb. 1864 - 13 Mar. 1943)
Funeral services for Mrs. Albert Franz, who died Saturday, were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Lulloff Funeral home at Colby and at 2:00 o’clock at Christ Evangelical Lutheran church in Abbotsford, with the Rev. J. Brandt officiating. During the services at the church, Maynard Gosse sang, "Rock of Ages," and the Young People’s quartette sang, "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me." Internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.
The pallbearers were: Hans J. Amacher, Clarence Gosse, William Marg, Albert Goldamer, Henry Franz and Charles Zabler.
The floral offerings were carried by Mrs. Amacher, Mrs. Gosse, Mrs. Marg and Mrs. Zabler.
Amelia Schueler was born April 14, 1864, in West Prussia, Germany. In 1867 she came to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Schueler, and lived in Milwaukee and Lomira before coming to Abbotsford, Wis.
On Feb. 15, 1884, she was married at Colby, to Albert Franz. Mr. Franz, who worked as a railroad section foreman and also as a superintendent of the county farm at Neillsville, and his family made their home at different times in North Dakota, Chippewa Falls, Abbotsford and Neillsville. Their last place of residence was on their farm one and one-half miles east of Abbotsford, where they lived until eight years ago when Mr. Franz died. Mrs. Franz continued to live on the home place but spent the winters with her children, Mrs. August Belter, of Wausau, Mrs. Albert Wiedenhoeft, Colby, and Albert Franz, at Bloomer.
Last fall, Mrs. Franz became ill and the beginning of this year she entered the hospital, seriously ill. She was moved from the hospital to the home of her daughter, Mrs. August Belter, at Wausau, and died there at 7:30 a.m., Saturday.
Besides her three children, who survive her, there are nine grand children and three great grand children. There are also three brothers: August and Herman of Abbotsford and Carl of Portland, Oregon. Among the relatives from away who attened the funeral were Carl Scheeler, Portland, Oregon; Mr. and Mrs. Herb Nelson, Arthur Nelson, Mr. Lange and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sill, of Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Krone, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. William Groettke, Mazomaine; Mr. and Mrs. William Marg and son, Roger, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Paul, Schofield; Mr. and Mrs. August Belter and two daughters, Dorothy and Irma, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Franz and two daughters of Bloomer.
