Laabs, Hattie (29 Sept. 1885 - 13 Oct. 1943)
Funeral services for Mrs. Fred W. Laabs, of Curtiss, Wisconsin, who died at her home, Wednesday morning, will be held Saturday afternoon. The body is lying in state at the home and will remain there until Saturday when the funeral will be conducted at 1:30 at the home and at 2:00 o’clock at the Congregational church. The Rev. Powell, of Phelps, will officiate.
Interment will be made in the Curtiss cemetery.
Mrs. Laabs was born Hattie Glenzer, near Sheboygan, Sept. 29, 1885, and was married Aug. 6, 1902, to Fred W. Laabs. For a time the couple lived at Madison while Mr. Laabs was instructor at the University. After Mr. Laabs took up the managing of cheese factories they lived in the vicinity of Curtiss.
Mrs. Laabs had been in poor health on account of diabetes but a stroke, suffered last week, was the immediate cause of her death on Wednesday.
Surviving besides her husband, are seven sons, Herman Laabs, Springfield, Mo.; Glenzer Laabs, Westfield, Ind.; Orville Laabs, Milan; Bernard Laabs, Abbotsford; Arthur Laabs, seaman second class, of the U.S. Navy, stationed in California; Harold Laabs, Curtiss, and Fritz Laabs, Chicago; one daughter, Mrs. George (Mernabelle) Pease, Wisconsin Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. John Burtard, town of Hoard, and Mrs. William Krueger, town of Green Grove; three brothers, Tony Glenzer of Rib Lake, John Glenzer of Washington, and Alfonz Glenzer, Medford; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred W. Laabs, who died at her home at Curtiss, Wednesday morning, were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the house and at 2:00 o’clock at the Congregational Church with the Rev. Powell, of Phelps, officiating and interment was made in Pine Hill cemetery at Curtiss.
The pallbearers were George Hoff, Frank Kraut, Frank Tonn, Anthony Hennlich, Fred Machlett and Grant Herrick.
The many floral tributes were carried by 14 girls: Jean Hennlich, Emily Ann Hennlich, Dorothy Long, Betty Geary, Dorothy Geary, Betty Krueger, Hazel Krueger, Grace Pudlas, Ramona Johnson, Elvera Schultz, Pauline Laabs, Olive Klessig, Adeline Krueger and Loretta Smith.
Mrs. Laabs is survived by her husband, Frederick, seven sons and one daughter, all of whom were here to attend the funeral: Herman, Springfield, Mo.; Glenzer, Westfield, Ind.; Orville, Milan; Bernard, Abbotsford; Arthur, seaman second class, U.S. navy, Corona, Calif.; Harold, Curtiss; Frederick Jr., Chicago; and Mrs. George (Mernabelle) Pease, of Wisconsin Rapids.
Her aged father, Christ Glenzer, of Colby; three sisters, Mrs. J. Burtard, Owen, Mrs. William Krueger and Mrs. Mary Krueger, Colby; three brothers, John Glenzer, Washington, Alfonz Glenzer, Medford and Tony Glenzer, Rib Lake, as well as 10 grandchildren also survive.
Among others attending the funeral were: F. J. Laabs, Pocatello, Idaho; Mrs. Walter Herbst, Chicago; William Laabs, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Walker, New London; Mrs. Harry Eide and Rachel, Stevens Point; Caroline Pribenow, Port Washington; Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Dehn, Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Marquardt, Wausau; J. I. Christopherson, Green Bay; W. A. Austin, Green Bay; James Pavorka, Wausau; Kurt Gerken, Merrill.
