Mayer, Fred (2 Jan. 1875 - 19 Dec. 1943)

Funeral services for Fred Mayer, 68, who died suddenly Sunday morning at 7:15, following a heart attack, were held Thursday morning at 9:30 at St. Louis’ Catholic church at Dorchester, Wis. The Rev. Phillip Weller read the requiem mass. Internment was made in Memorial cemetery.

Fred Mayer was born Jan. 2, 1875 in Arnau, Bohemia. In 1882 he came to Dorchester and on Nov. 24, 1904 he was married to Irma Papesch.

He made his home in Dorchester all his life except for a period of about five years, when he lived in Abbotsford, Wis. About a year and a half ago he returned to Dorchester and made his home on the Paff farm where he died, Sunday morning.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Clara Meyers, of Bayfield, Wis. There are also 11 nephews and four nieces.

His wife and one sister, Mrs. Jenny Conic, preceded him in death.

The body lay in state at the Paff farm until Thursday morning.
