Johnson, Violet Ethel Agnes (Marriage - 24 Dec. 1943)
Christmas Eve was chosen by Miss Violet Ethel Agnes Johnson, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Thure Johnson, of Minor, N. Dak., for her marriage to Rueben Walter Mantik, of Abbotsford, son of Michael Mantik. The double ring ceremony was performed at 3:00 o’clock, Dec. 24, in the Milan Gospel Tabernacle which was beautifully decorated with a lighted Christmas tree and strings of small lights across the church auditorium. The Rev. Johnson, the bride’s father, read the marriage service.
Special music was provided by the bride’s sisters, Mrs. Arnold Engstrand who played the wedding marches, and Mrs. Elmer Jensen, who sang "Roses" and "In the Garden of My Heart."
The bride was attired in a gown of white slipper satin, made with a train and trimmed with lace. Her long veil and the blusher veil fell from a beaded tiara. A gold locket with diamond setting, a gift of the groom, and a bouquet of pink roses and white chrysanthemums completed her ensemble.
Attending her were two sisters, the Misses Evangeline and Eulalia, gowned alike in pink and blue taffeta formals. They wore gold crosses, gifts of the bride, and shoulder corsages of yellow and pink roses and chrysanthemums.
The groom was attended by his brother, Enos, and a cousin, Alvin Venzke, of Abbotsford, Wis.
Miss Judy Paulson, niece of the groom, was flower girl. She was dressed in a frock of blue taffeta, trimmed with pink bows and lace. She carried a colonial bouquet of roses and baby chrysanthemums.
Jerold Mantik, nephew of the groom, carried the rings in a calla lilly.
Following the ceremony a reception was held and supper was served for 50 guests at the home of Mrs. Elmer Jensen. A four-tiered wedding cake was the centerpiece on the bridal table.
After the holidays Mr. and Mrs. Mantik will be at home to friends on the groom’s farm.
The bride is a graduate of the Owen high school, class of 1941, and since has been employed by Intelhome & Co. of Wilnor, N. Dak.
Guests who attended the wedding included Rev. and Mrs. Thure Johnson, Dr., and family and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Engstrand and daughter, Gloria Mae, Minor, N. Dak.; Rev. and Mrs. Thure Johnson, Jr., and son Byron, Rock Lake, N.
