Wunsch, Marcella (Marriage - 26 June 1944)
St. Bernard’s Catholic church was the scene of a very pretty wedding, Monday morning when Miss Marcella Wunsch, of Milwaukee, daughter of Mrs. Rose Munsch, of Abbotsford, and T/5 Kenneth H. Wiese, of Camp Polk, La., son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wiese, were united in marriage.
Leading the wedding march was Miss Irene Wunsch, Milwaukee, sister of the bride, in a yellow batiste frock. Mrs. Frank Wunsch, Milwaukee, sister of the groom. The matron of honor, followed in a blue batiste gown. Both wore matching bonnets and shoulder corsages of white carnations and mixed snapdragons.
The bride wore a gown of white marquisette fashioned with long sleeves and a sweetheart neckline, set off by a gold locket, the gift of the groom. The long fan shaped train had wide lace insertions and was edged in wide lace. Both the finger tip veil and short face veil fell from a beaded tiara. She carried a bright arm bouquet of mixed snap dragons tied with a large, white bow.
At the foot of the high altar, the bride met her bridegroom and vows were repeated in a double ring ceremony, read by the Rev. Francis Brockman at 9:30.
Pvt. Frank Wunsch, Camp Howze, Texas, was the best man and Clarence Wiese, Milwaukee, was usher. The men were all dressed in the uniform of the United States Army.
Shoulder corsages of red carnations were worn by both mothers.
During the nuptial high mass the choir sang the mass of the Guardian Angels and "Veni Jesus Amori" at the offertory.
Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the groom’s parents and a wedding dinner and reception was held at the home of the brother and sister of the bridal couple, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Wunsch. Red, white and blue streamer, caught by a flag, and baskets of mock orange blossoms were used in the home decorations. Candelabra and a large, decorated wedding cake formed the center piece at the bridal table.
A wedding dance was held at Hildemeyer’s, east of Medford, in the evening.
T/5 and Mrs. Wiese left Tuesday for Milwaukee where the bride is employed in defense work. The groom will return to camp, July 4th.
Among the guests at the wedding were: Mrs. Rose Wunsch, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wiese, the Misses Rosella Wunsch and Margaret Wiese, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Wiese and children, Mrs. Mike Kittl, Rev. Francis Brockman, Mr. and Mrs. E. Duellman, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hoffman, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Parge and sons, Miss Cecelia Leichtnam, Mrs. L. K.
