Keller, Herman (14 Oct. 1869 - 7 July 1944)

Funeral services for Herman Keller, 74, who died Friday morning, were held, Monday afternoon, at 1:30 at the Zink Funeral Home and at 2:00 o’clock at Christ Evangelical Lutheran church, with the Rev. John Brandt officiating at the rites.

During the church services selected hymns were sung by three nieces of Mrs. Keller; Mrs. Hilda Montag, Mrs. Hazel Dorst and Mrs. Esther Dankemyere.

Places of business were closed during the hour of the funeral in respect to Mr. Keller, who had served the village as treasurer for many years.

Internment of the body was made at Lynn. The pallbearers were H. J. Amacher, Frank Bernitt, Clarence Dolan, Vane Gokey, Walter Jackson and George Vetter.

The flower girls were Elaine Daenicke, Loretta Ellerman, Donna Hinke, Martha Janda, Doris Kieser, Jean Laack, Donna Mae Leichtnam, Rowene and Marlene Schaefer and Janet Uhlig.

Mr. Keller was born in Sheboygan county, Oct. 14, 1869 and was married to Bertha Schlinsog, Sept. 18, 1894. After their marriage the Kellers settled on a farm in the town of Lynn, Clark county. In 1921 they came to Abbotsford and after conducting a restaurant for four years, retired. Mr. Keller served the village as treasurer for 25 years.

He is survived by his widow and five children, a son, Rollie, at Menasha, and four daughters, Mrs. C. R. (Lorna) Schaefer, Abbotsford; Mrs. Ed (Verna) Garbisch, Mrs. Lester (Adeline) Schaefer, and Mrs. William (Alma) Lyles, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Nine grand children and one great grand child and one brother, Robert Keller, Madison, also survive. A sister, Kristine Bornhoeft, preceded him in death.

Among the relatives and friends from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ed Garbisch, daughter, Elaine, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Schaefer, daughter, Marlene, and Mr. and Mrs. William Lyles, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Keller, children, Ralph and Sylvia, Menasha; Ensign Dollie Keller, of the Waves, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Edna McKesnd, Chicago; Robert Keller, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. William Schlinsog, Greenwood.
