Leach, Elmer (1919? - 24 June 1944)
Word has been received that Pfc. Elmer Leach, 25, of Dorchester, was killed in action June 24.
Pfc. Leach whose parents died when he was a child, made his home with the Wigstad family at Dorchester and was a frequent visitor at Abbotsford, Wis.
He was inducted in the army March 2, 1942, and volunteered for duty with a tank corps with which he went to England in March.
Surviving him are his sister, Betsey, of Dorchester, and four brothers: Pfc. Andrew, who is in the Aleutians; Lyle, a mechanic in the air force, stationed at Arlington, Texas; Lawrence at Fond du Lac and Frank, who is in the army engineers in California. One brother, Kenneth, was killed in an air plane crash, while taking his training.
