Malnar, Mary (22 January 1880 - 19 May 1971)
Funeral services were held May 22 from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood
for Mrs. George (Mary) Malnar, 91, of Willard who died May 19 at St. Joseph’s
Hospital in Marshfield.
A grandson, the Rev. Matthew G. Malnar of
Independence officiated. He was assisted by the Rev. Leander Koopman and the
Rev. Michael Mertens. Interment was mde in the national Cemetery at Willard.
Mrs. Malnar was born January 22, 1880, in Yugoslavia and was married there
August 11, 1897, to George Malnar. They came to the United States in 1906 and
settled in Scamman, Kans. They came to Willard in 1915 but moved back to Kansas
and lived there until 1918 when they moved to Catlin, Ill. in 1920 they came
back to Willard. Mr. Malnar died January 31.1936. Mrs. Malnar made her home in
Willard until 1969, when she entered the Clark County Home for the Aged in
Greenwood.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jacob (Goldie) Knaus, of
West Allis; two sons, Matthew and Emil Malnar, both of Greenwood; five
grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Croatian Fraternal
Union and the S. N.P.J. Union.
