Lampi, Matt (2 Sept. 1910 - 18 Jan. 1945)
Funeral services for Matt O. Lampi, 36, who was killed when the body of a dump truck fell upon him at his farm four miles southwest of Owen last Thursday, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Finnish Lutheran church at Owen. Burial took place in Riverside cemetery.
A large number of relatives from here attended the funeral. Mrs. Lampi is remembered here as Olive Jacobi, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jacobi.
At the time of the accident, about 2 p.m. last Thursday, Mr. Lampi had elevated the body of his truck with a hydraulic hoist to do some repair work beneath the vehicle. The hoist suddenly gave way and he was crushed beneath the truck. His son was with him at the time of the accident and ran to tell his mother who tried to get help.
Besides Mrs. Lampi, he is survived by two sons and a daughter, all at home, their baby, a boy, having been born on Jan. 4.
Mr. Lampi was engaged in the contract trucking business for the past few years, hauling logs and gravel.
