Mueller, Herman (8 Apr. 1920 - 29 Apr. 1945)
An official telegram from the war department was delivered Wednesday stating that Pfc. Herman Mueller was a war casualty, killed in action April 29, in Italy. He was with the ? mountain division.
Pfc. Herman Mueller, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mueller, was born in New Glarus on April 8, 1920. He attended school in Abbotsford and for seven years following was employed at the Abbotsford Hardware store helping his father in the plumbing trade.
He was married to Miss Lilah Barts Feb. 4, 1939.
His army training was all gotten at Camp Blanding, Fla., after his induction on June 27, 1944. After a furlough here in early November he was sent overseas and spent Christmas in Italy.
The last letter was received by his wife on April 23.
Besides his widow, he leaves two children, Ronnie, 5, and Sandra, 4. There are his parents and the following sisters, Mrs. Norman (Marie) Miller, Abbotsford; Mrs. Gerald (Betty) Stelzel, Minneapolis; Mrs. Ted (Verna) Patrie, Rockaway Beach, N.Y.; and two brothers in the service: Pfc. Bob in the air corps at Lowrie Field, Colo., and Milton, who recently enlisted in the navy, at Great Lakes.
