Goelden, Jeannette (Marriage - 30 June 1945)
Miss Jeannette Goelden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Goelden, of Abbotsford, exchanged marriage vows in a double ring ceremony with Edward Prokop, on Saturday, June 30, before a solemn nuptial high mass in St. Ludmilla’s church, in Chicago. Serving at mass were two nephews of the groom.
A 15 minute organ recital preceded the ceremony. During the services "Ave Maria" was sung by a brother-in-law and sister of the groom and during the mass there was special singing by another sister with violin obligato by her husband. Lohengrin’s wedding march was played as a processional and Mendelssohn’s, as a recessional.
The bride, who was given in marriage by Mr. Devereaux, a friend, wore a white satin gown with a four yard train and satin sandals. A soft, tulle, shoulder length veil, edged in lace flowers, and a lace frill around the Colonial bouquet, centered with two white orchids, completed her ensemble.
Attending the bride were two friends, Miss Anne Sandrick, as maid of honor, and Miss Emily Brodlo, as bridesmaid. They were gowned alike in frocks of peach with taffeta bodices and billowy tulle skirts. Shoulder length veils fell from the matching taftteta skull caps with apple blossom clusters on either side. The attendants carried bouquets of purple, white and yellow iris and colored snap dragons.
A brother, Jude, attended as best man.
Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast for the bridal party and immediate family was held at the school hall. A 5:00 o’clock reception was held and dinner served at 6:30 for about 100 guests. Dancing followed in the evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Prokop left on a week’s wedding trip to Indiana and are now at home at 2513 S. Kinzie Avenue, in Chicago.
The bride is a graduate of St. Anthony’s hospital, Chicago, and the groom is employed as foreman for Soote Bros., in Chicago.
