Engelking, Edna Anne (Marriage - 14 July 1945)

Before the altar, decorated with pink and white peonies, in St. Andrew’s Episcopal church at Ashland, Miss Edna Anna Engelking, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Engelking, Abbotsford, became the bride of Cpl. William Henry Berweger, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Berweger, Ashland, Route 1. The marriage ceremony was read at 9:30 Saturday morning, July 14, in the presence of immediate relatives of the bridal couple, with the Rev. M. G. Argeaux officiating.

The bride wore a gown of white lace over taffeta, a white hat and white accessories. She wore a necklace and bracelet of Mexican silver filigree, and a shoulder corsage of deep red roses.

Her matron of honor was a cousin, Mrs. Walter Gustafson, of Mason, and the bridesmaid was a friend, Miss Joice Alby, of Sanborn. They wore crepe frocks of lime green and aqua, respectively, with white hats, other white accessories and a corsage of white carnations.

Lt. Frederick L. Engelking, Boca Raton, A.A.F. Fla., brother of the bride, was best man.

Theodore G. Anderson, Sanborn, was usher. Mr. Anderson, who was given a medical discharge from the army July 1, recently returned to the states after serving for three and one-half years in the South Pacific theatre of operations as staff sergeant.

The groom and his attendants wore the summer uniforms of the army.

A wedding breakfast was served at the Knight hotel, at Ashland. In the afternoon a reception was held at Sanborn at the home of the bride’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson. Peonies and roses were used in the home decorations. In the evening a dance was held at Berweger hall.

Cpl. and Mrs. Berweger are spending a few days at Lake Namakagon and plan to be in Abbotsford the end of the week.

Both the bride and groom attended the Sanborn State Graded School and Mrs. Berweger was graduated from the Ashland high school with the class of 1939. Cpl. Berweger, who has recently returned to the States from three and one-half years in the European theatre of operations, will report to Miami, Fla., for reassignment July 26th .

Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Engelking, Abbotsford; Lt. Frederick Engelking, Boca Raton, Fla.; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Schraufnagel and daughter, Judy, Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Buster Schraufnagel, Glidden; Mrs. Kate Murhpy and daughter, Agnes, Duluth; Mrs. Elmer Munson, Hayward; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Magnuson, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Johnson, and Mrs. John Dunlap, Ashland.
