Green, Sarah (25 Mar. 1866 - 23 July 1945)

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah E. Green, 79, who died of complications of age, at the Clark County Hospital, Owen, July 23, will be held Friday afternoon at the Congregational church, Curtiss, at 2:00 o’clock. The Rev. C. S. Matthews will officiate and internment will be made in Pine Hill cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Zink Funeral Home, until Friday noon when it will be taken to the church.

Sarah Stanfield was born in Xenia, Ohio, March 25, 1866. She was married at Clarksville, Ohio, on April 24, 1891, and lived there until 1892 when they came to the town of Hoard. Here Mr. Green, with his father and three brothers operated a saw mill until 1909 when he moved to Curtiss and there had a general store.

After his death in 1934 Mrs. Green made her home with her married children. She has been in ill health the past three and one-half years and recently was taken to the Clark County hospital.

Mrs. Green was a member of the Congregational church and of the Helping Hand Society of that church.

Surviving are the four children, all of whom are here for the funeral: Ralph S. Green, Bluffton, Indiana; Mrs. Jacob (Lucy) Johnson, Curtiss; Stacey L. Green, Eugene, Oregon; and Mrs. Lawrence (Edith) Neitzel, Abbotsford, Wis. There are 10 grand children and six great grand children. One sister, Mrs. Mattie Hodge, of Cincinnati, Ohio, also survives. Six brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral rites were conducted Friday afternoon at the Curtiss Congregational church for Mrs. Sarah Green, 79, Curtiss, who died July 23 at the Clark county hospital. The Rev. C. S. Matthews officiated at the rites, and burial was made in Pine Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers were Grant Herrick, Fred Machlett, Fred Pudlas, Otto Bublitz, Alfred Erickson and Henry Peterson, and Mrs. Grant Herrick, Mrs. Stella Brady, Mrs. A. J. Hennlich and Miss May Skidmore were in charge of the flowers.

"What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Abide With Me," were sung by a quartette composed of Mrs. Fred Pudlas, Mrs. Tovio Kallio, Mrs. Alfred Thompson, and Mrs. George Edwards.

Miss Elaine Jakel was organist.
