Schmidt, Theodore (5 July 1886 - 19 Aug. 1945)
Medford: Funeral services for Theodore Schmidt, who suffered a heart attack while swimming Sunday, have been set for Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the Fuchsgruber Funeral Home and at 2:00 o’clock at Salem Evangelical church, the Rev. V. R. Miller officiating.
The body will lie in state at the Fuchsgruber Funeral Home at Dorchester until the time of services.
Mr. Schmidt, 59, town of Deer Creek, suffered a heart attack and died while swimming at Cherokee park, Sunday afternoon. He was attending a card club party at the park. Some other people were swimming, and he and Charles Lindboe, also of the town of Deer Creek, decided to swim also. He was in the water when stricken.
The body was recovered about an hour later in 12 feet of water. The Marathon county sheriff was called to assist in recovering the body.
Theodore Schmidt was born in the town of Deer Creek, July 5, 1886, and had resided there all of his life.
Survivors are his wife; two sons in service, Raymond in New Guinea; and Lloyd on his way home from the European theatre; another son, Ervin, Milwaukee; and one daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Peters, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. One son preceded him in death.
