Prestin, Carl Gottlieb (29 June 1860 - 28 Nov. 1945)
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, for Carl Gottlieb Prestin, 85, who died Nov. 28 at 8:45 p.m. at his home in Abbotsford, the result of old age complications.
The Rev. O. J. Hoffman of Zion Evangelical Lutheran church, Colby, had charge of the rites and burial was made in the Abbotsford cemetery.
Pallbearers were Herman Lapp, Frank Stange, Leo Banditt, Home Kennedy, Harold Wepfer, and G. G. Kieser.
Here from out of town for the funeral were Mrs. A. Zimdars, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Prestin, Minong; Mrs. E. Prestin, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Prestin, Minneapolis, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Prestin, Badger.
Mr. Prestin was born in Germany, June 29, 1860, and was married in Milwaukee Nov. 4, 1883, to Mary Henning, who preceded him in death, June 1, 1943.
After their marriage they lived in Milwaukee until 1912, when they moved to Curtiss on a farm. Two years later they came to their present place at Abbotsford on Highway 13.
Surviving are five children, Henry Prestin, address unknown; Mrs. Louise Zimdars, Milwaukee; Carl Prestin, Minong; Mrs. Lillie Gosse, Abbotsford; and Dorothy Prestin, at home. A son, William, died in infancy. Four brothers and a sister reside in Germany, and there are four grand children and five great grand children.
*** Carl Gottlieb Preston is buried in the Abbotsford cemetery , Abbotsford, Clark Co., Wisconsin.
