Bannach, John S. (20 June 1887 - 28 May 1971)

Funeral services for John S. Bannach, 93, of Loyal, who died May 28, at the Clark County Hospital at Owen, were held Tuesday, June 1, at 11 a.m. from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal. The Rev. Norbert E. King officiated and burial was made in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. A general rosary service was conducted by Fr. King, in addition to rosary services by the Parish Council of Catholic women and the Knights of Columbus. The Roycraft Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

John S. Bannach was born June 20, 1887, in Milwaukee. As a child he moved with his parents to a farm in the Marathon City area, where he received his education. His marriage to the former Clara Nowak took place October 29, 1901, in Marathon City. She survives him.

The couple farmed near Marathon City until 1916, when they moved to a farm in the Township of Loyal. In 1943 they moved to the city of Loyal, where Mr. Bannach operated a blacksmith shop. They moved to Butler in 1955, remaining there for five years before retiring to Loyal. Mr. Bannach was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Clara) Vecker of St. Charles, Ill.; Mrs. George (Mary) Sanders of Amherst, Mrs. Lawrence (Loretta) Cowles of Loyal and Mrs. Francis (Lillian) Shefchik of Rhinelander; two sons, John J. Bannach, Jr., of Loyal and George Bannach of Milwaukee; 27 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Robert Sanders, Brian Sanders, John Lopez, Jim Schefchik, George Bannach and Wally Plaman.
