Neillsville relatives received a telegram from First Lt. Bruce Beilfuss announcing his arrival in San Francisco on Jan. 8.
Lt. Beilfuss served in the navy for approximately three years. For some time he was stationed at Great Lakes, Ill., from which point he was ordered to Norfolk, Va., where he was assigned to duty off the Florida coast. Later he was stationed on an island off the California coast and assigned to a flotilla actively engaged in anti-submarine warfare.
For the last 10 months Lt. Beilfuss had been based in the Philippine-Japan area, assigned to duty with the air craft service and Pacific Fleet Aircraft Carriers.
It is expected that he will take over the office of district attorney from which he was granted a leave of absence at the time of his enlistment - shortly after his arrival at Neillsville. He maintained a law office in Abbotsford before going to Neillsville.
