Dell Raymond Richardson was born on Aug. 31, 1880 at DePere, Wis. On June 15, 1904 he was united in marriage to Georgiana Chabot at Cadott, Wis. In 1905 the couple moved to this vicinity which then was uncultivated, but a wilderness of timber which was being logged by the John S. Owen Lumber Co. with whom he became affiliated. For many years he served as manager of the company’s store. Later as the community grew he advanced with its progress and established Richardson’s General Merchandise store. The store was located on Owen’s Main Street. He retired from the grocery business more than 20 years ago but the building and business he started was located on the site now occupied by Picus’ Store.
For the past several years he had been employed as projectionist at the Owen Theater. He tended to this work up until the night previous to a stroke on the 24th of June.
Dell, as he was known by his many friends, was a fine cooperative wholesome citizen. During the community’s early pioneer days he gave unstingily of his time to its needs. He served as an alderman for many years in addition to being an active church member in St. Katherine’s Episcopal parish. Then, too, in addition to these extra obligations he assumed, he raised and educated a fine family.
Wednesday morning his family and other friends attended a Requiem Mass said at St. Katherine’s Church at 10 o’clock.
Guests from away who attended were Frank Richardson, McArthur Richardson, Mrs. Clinton Redard, Mrs. Wirt Redard, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Redard, and Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Webb of Chippewa Falls; Mr. J. G. Eckhoff of St. Paul; Mr. Victor Hintzman and Mr. Laverne Graske of Menomonie.
