Mutka, Voitto M. (21 Jan. 1919 - 5 Apr. 2009)

Voitto M. Mutka, 91, of Owen died Sunday, April 5, 2009, in the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital, where he was admitted April 1. Services are pending.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is assisting the family with arrangements.

OWEN -- Voitto M. Mutka, 91, of Owen died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in the town of Hixon.

Visitation will be Thursday at the church in Withee from noon until time of service.

A complete obituary will run in the Wednesday edition of the News-Herald.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Owen is assisting the family.

OWEN -- Voitto M. Mutka, 91, of Owen, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in the town of Hixon.

Visitation will be Thursday at the church in Withee from noon until time of service. Voitto was born Jan. 21, 1918, in Ironwood, Mich., to Matti and Olga (Peltomaa) Mutka. Both of his parents immigrated to this country from Kanuss, Finland, and they moved the family to the Owen area to farm. Voitto farmed his entire life and was also a caregiver for family members.

Voitto is survived by his brother, Vilho (Mildred) Mutka of Eagle River.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral home in Owen is assisting the family with all arrangements.
