They are a grand couples and it is a treat to listen to Mr. Berger tell of the Withee of long ago. Each step of its growth he remembers distinctly and with pride. Many friends and relatives gathered to pay tribute to Mr. and Mrs. Berger, which attests the love and esteem everyone in the community hold for them.
Special services were held at the Withee Methodist Church for the Bergers where the Reverends Shaw officiated.. A quartet sang "In the Garden," a favorite song of the Bergers. Rev. Shaw paid tribute to them in his sermon and Mrs. Shaw, also an ordained minister, asked a special blessing for them. They were also presented with a beautiful bouquet of yellow roses and yellow chrysanthemums.
On Saturday night, Oct. 21, 1950, the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs of Withee had a party for them.
