Candlelight and Christmas flowers adorned the setting in the Bethany Lutheran Church, Owen, as Miss Ruth Makkonen became the bride of Into Liimatta, on Wednesday, Dec. 27th, 1950.
The daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Oscar Makkonen was given in marriage by her father as Rev. Viljo Puotinen read the double ring ceremony at 8 p.m.
The bridal gown was of white marquisette, having a long train and fingertip veil held by beaded crown. The gown had a fitted bodice and long tapered sleeves. She wore a gold cross as her only jewelry. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses and white chrysanthemums. Thea Myren, Crookston, Minn. Was her attendant and wore a gown of powder blue marquisette over satin. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and white chrysanthemums.
The bridegroom, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Maine Liimatta, Kokkola, Finland, was attended by Everett Pousi of Kingston, Minn.
Ushers were Reino Makkonen and Oscar Makkonen.
During the ceremony Mrs. Viljo Puotinen played the bridal marches and accompanied Rev. Leslie Lurvey when he sang a Finnish Prayer hymn, "O Lord, Most Holy." Following the ceremony a reception for the immediate guests was held in the church parlors.
The bride is a graduate of the Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) High School and also of the Fairview Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minn.
Mr. Liimatta attended the University of Helsinki, Gustavus Adolphus College in Minneapolis and at present is a student at Colorado V. M. College at Fort Collins, Colorado.
Out of town guests here for the wedding were Rev. and Mrs. Edward Isaac of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Evert Pousi of Kingston, Minn., Thea Myren of Crookston, Minn., Andrew Nielsen of Crookston, Minn., the Rev. and Mrs. Leslie Lurvey of Ely, Minn., Lina Makkonen of Chicago, and Reino Makkonen of Albuquerque, N. M.
