Kolpanen, John (13 SEP 1881 - 31 DEC 1950)

Yesterday afternoon at 1:30, funeral services were conducted from the Bethany Lutheran Church, Owen, for John Kolpanen, 70, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Death was attributed to pneumonia.

Officiating at the burial rites was Rev. Puotinen. Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were his five sons, Hans, William, Roy, Reino, and Uno, and a son-in-law, Lester Himes. Those in charge of flowers were Medsdames Mike Kovatch, Matt Bombach, Ellerd Havelin, Dan Arola and Miss Ruth Hill.

John Kolpanen was born on Sept. 13, 1881 in Finland. He had been a resident of this community for a good many years and will be sadly missed by his many fine associates and family. Surviving him are his widow, five sons, Uno, William and Reino, Owen; Roy and Hans, Milwaukee, and a daughters, Mrs. Lester (Elizabeth) Himes.
