Wallin, Charles (1867? - 23 Apr. 1946)
Charles Wallin, 79, and Mrs. Wallin, 70, were casualties in a traffic accident which occurred about 12:30 p.m. three miles east of Abbotsford on Highway 29, Tuesday.
The Wallins, who moved to Ellison Bay, recently, from St. Paul, were driving west on Highway 29 and towing two two-wheel trailers behind their car. They collided head-on with a truck driven by Roy S. Pierce, of Dorchester, Wis.
Mr. Wallin was killed instantly as a result of a skull fracture, crushed chest and compound fracture of an arm. His wife was taken by H. O. Zink to St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, where she died about 4:00 o‘clock. She had suffered a compound skull fracture, a broken leg, and numerous contusions.
Both bodies were here at the Zink Funeral Home until Wednesday morning when they were taken to Sister Bay.
Called to the scene of the accident were Deputy Coroner John W. Hildensperger and Chief Henry Gaetzman and Officers Frank Nienow and John Nutter of the Marathon county traffic department. Dr. G. G. Shields and H. O. Zink were also called.
An inquest will be held in about a week.
Damage to the car, a 1938 coach, was estimated at $500 and to the truck about $75.
