Rogstad, Hildegard (14 APR 1901 - 10 JAN 1945)

Mrs. Edward Rogstad, 43, passed away at her home on route two at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 10. Her sudden death was a result of an embolism.

Mrs. Rogstad, the former Hildegard Burr, was born in Guttenberg, Ia., on Apr 14, 1901, and was married to Edward Rogstad at St. Andrew’s Catholic church in Rozellville on May 23, 1922.

She lived in Rozellville from the time she was 16 years old until the spring of 1934, when the Rogstad family went to Guttenberg. After living at various places near there until 1937, the family lived on a farm near Marshfield for a year and since that time they have lived near Loyal.

Surviving besides her husband, are eight children, Harold, 20, of Merrimac, and Vernon, 21; Dorothy, 18; Delores, 15; Clarence, 7; Anita, 6; Marion, 2, and Jerry Allen, 18 days old, all of Loyal. Another son, Norbert, died at the age of nine years on Mar. 23, 1942. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. Clara Burr, of Stratford; two brothers, Lorell S. Burr of Stratford and Delbert Burr of Winnebago, and seven sisters, Mrs. Al (Florence Kroening of Kenosha, Mrs. Mike (Viola) Fisher, Mrs. Anker (Olive) Jorgensen and Mrs. George (Irene) Collins, all of Kenosha, Mrs. Anthony (Sylvia) Drexler and Mrs. Alfred (Odelia) Meyer, both of Stratford, and Sister M. Dorothea (Mildred) of Sacred Heart convent, Ashland.

The Rev. Aloys Zinthefer officiated at the requiem high mass at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Anthony’s Catholic church for Mrs. Rogstad. Interment was made in St. Anthony’s cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Hugo Stutte, Joseph Esselman, Art Becker, Delbert Becker, Adam Brusky and Albert Rueth. Carrying the flowers were Mrs. Joseph Esselman Mrs. Edgar Verhalen, Mrs. John Elsinger Jr., Mrs. Albert Rueth, Mrs. Hugo Stutte, Mrs. James Bertz and Mrs. Delbert Becker.

Among those from out of town attending the funeral were Mrs. Anker Jorgensen, Mrs. Al Kroening and Mrs. George Collins, all of Kenosha; Mrs. Clara Burr, Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Burr, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Drexler and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Meier, all of Stratford; Cpl. Rueben J. Rogstad of Scott Field, Ill.; Ella Borcherding, Joe and Henry Nieland and Mrs. Lena Burr, all of Guttenberg, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Burr, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Burr, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Burr, Mrs. Bud Jirschele, and Misses Magdalen and Helen Rogstad, all of Marshfield.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Burr Sr. and Joe Burr Jr. of Hewitt, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Burr of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin A. Schreiner of Athens, Mrs. F. Math Wolf of Milwaukee, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Weber and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kraus of Rozellville.

The Tribune extends to the bereaved its sympathy in the loss of a loved one.
