Mundell, Roberta J. #2 (14 APR 1945)
Miss Roberta J. Mundell of Gillman, exchanged wedding vows with Edwin W. Kuester, BM2/c, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Kuester of Loyal, in a wedding ceremony read by the Rev. George Fischer in the Presbyterian church at Hannibal at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Mrs. John L. Anderson, in a pink formal gown and carrying carnations and snapdragons, was her sister’s matron of honor, while Harry Kuester, brother of the groom, was best man.
The bride wore an ivory satin wedding gown, with lace insertions. Distinguishing features of the frock were the sweetheart neckline and the long graceful skirt which extended into a court train. Her long billowing veil of imported illusion was trimmed with matching lace and caught to a crown of beaded flowers. For jewelry she wore pearls, a gift of the groom, and she carried pink and white carnations.
Miss Nancy June Rossow, niece of the groom, dressed in a floor length dress of aqua and wearing a shoulder corsage of pink and white snapdragons, carried the bride’s veil and train.
Mrs. Herman Schefus played the wedding march and accompanied Miss Florence Kuester, sister of the groom, as she sang "Oh Promise Me."
The mother of the bride and groom wore shoulder corsages of pink and white carnations.
Following the ceremony, supper was served at the home of the bride’s parents, and that evening a wedding dance was held at Hannibal. Sunday evening a second wedding dance was held at Spencer.
Mrs. Kuester was graduated from the Hannibal high school.
The groom, who enlisted in the navy on Oct. 20, 1942, returned to the states on Mar. 27, 1945, after serving for 15 months in the Pacific area. He participated in naval action in the Marshall Islands, at Guam, Palau, Leyte and Luzon.
After a 20 day leave at home, he expects to return to the west coast for active duty aboard ship.
Those who attended the wedding included: Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Usher of Boyd, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Anderson and family and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Kuester and son, Leary, of Waukesha, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schefus and son, Dennis, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Kuester and family and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rossow of Loyal.
