Atkin, Johanna (7 JUN 1878 - 27 APR 1951)
Final rites were held at two o’clock Monday, April 30, from the Griebenow Funeral Parlors for Mrs. Johanna Atkin, with Rev. Wagner, Owen, officiating. Burial was made at the Riverside Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Stanley Zawacki, Alois Bonk, Nels Hero, John Brossow, Lawrence Munson and Wallace Wood. Those in charge of flowers were Norma and Mildred Breitlow, Mrs. Wallace Wood, Mrs. Joe Jascor and Ruby Arndt.
Mrs. Atkins passed away at the home of her son Milfred Wenzel on Friday, April 27, 1951, after a long lingering illness. She was born on June 7, 1878 and was 72 years and 10 months of age at the time of her death. She came to America when a youngster of two years with her parents, who settled on a farm in the Town of Maplehurst (Taylor Co.), in which community she has since made her home.
In 1904 the deceased was united in marriage to Frank Wenzel who preceded her in death, passing away 21 years ago in 1930. In 1935 she married William Atkin who survives her as does her son.
Friends of long standing in the community will remember her for her quiet, even tempered manner, respect for others and the understanding and patience she exhibited during her long illness.
