Puro, Henry #3 (19 MAY 1881 - 11 JUN 1951)
Henry Puro, 70 years and 23 days of age, was place in his final resting place at Riverside Cemetery on Thursday, June 14. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. from the Bethany Lutheran Church with Rev. Henry Aukee officiating. Hjalmer Heikkinen, John Rauha, Frank Maki, Mike Lampi, Andrew Kallio and Kauno Niemi. Those in charge of flowers were Ruth Hill, Laina Makkonen, Beverly Arola, Tynee Mutka, Ann Ristola and Shirley Karye.
The deceased passed away at his home on Monday, June 11, 1951, after having suffered from a long illness. He had been a patient for some time at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield, and was brought home about 10 days previous to his death.
He was born on May 19, 1881 at Lapinlahti, Finland. He came to this country in 1908 settling at Ironwood, Mich. He and Hanna Martin were united in marriage on May 19, 1910 at Ironwood, Mich. And later moved to Negaunee, Mich., living there until 1914, at which time he and his family moved to this community (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.), being absorbed in the occupation of farming. Until 1946 he successfully farmed south of the city, but at that time retired and moved to Owen where he since made his home.
Surviving him are his wife, four sons, Pentha, Owen; Arvo, Cleveland, Ohio, Pellerno, Waukegan, Ill.; and Onnie of Goshen, Ind.; and three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Gertrude) O’Brien, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Home (Helen) Watson, Indianapolis, Ind.; and Mrs. George (Miriam) Luoma of Waukegan, Ill.
One daughter and a sons have preceded him in death.
