Hankey, Evelyn (Marriage - 27 Apr. 1946)

Marriage vows were exchanged between Miss Evelyn Hankey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hankey, of Nasonville, and Arthur Garbrecht, son of Mrs. William Garbrecht, of Abbotsford, in a double ring ceremony, Saturday, April 27. The Rev. Arthur Oates read the service at 2:00 o’clock in the Presbyterian parsonage at Marshfield.

The bride wore a blue gabardine suit, blue hat and other accessories in white. She wore a corsage of cream colored roses and small white flowers.

Her only attendant was her sister, Miss Mildred Hankey, also of Nasonville. She wore a gray wool suit with matching accessories and a corsage of pink roses.

Attending the groom was Mervin Heinrich, brother-in-law of the bride.

For the occasion the bride’s mother wore a navy blue dress and the groom’s mother a black suit. Both wore corsages of sweet peas and carnations.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Heinrich, brother-in-law and sister of the bride. Blue and white streamers and white wedding bells were used in the home decorations and a decorated wedding cake formed the center piece on the bridal table.

In the evening a wedding dance was held at Bakerville.

Among the guests from away who attended were Mrs. William Garbrecht, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Garbrecht of Abbotsford; Mrs. Hazel Yarwood, sister of the bride, and two children, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. William Michels, Marshfield; and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Stasek, Nasonville.

Mr. and Mrs. Garbrecht are making their home in Abbotsford where he is employed at the Northwest Distributing company.

The groom is a returned service man, receiving his honorable discharge Jan. 6, 1946, after having been in the service 43 months, and in the Pacific theater 17 months.
