Pettit, Agnes Frances (11 Feb. 1919 - 11 Apr. 2009)

NEILLSVILLE -- Agnes Pettit, 90, of Neillsville died Saturday, April 11, 2009, in the emergency room of the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.

Agnes Frances Pettit was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Valley County, Neb., the daughter of William and Josephine (Giziniski) Deleski. On Dec. 23, 1956, she was united in marriage to Norbert J. Pettit. He preceded her in death.

They farmed in South Dakota and then moved to Neillsville in 1952 and farmed just south of the Reed School. They retired from farming in November of 1970 and moved to Grand Avenue in Neillsville. Along with farming, Agnes also worked for 18 years at Sunburst Youth Homes. She is survived by one daughter, Maureen (Wayne) Meier of Neillsville; three sons, Dave (Linda) Pettit of Morton, Ill., John (Janie) Pettit of Neillsville and James Pettit of Las Vegas, Nev.; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Agnes is also survived by a brother, Donald Deleski of Garden City, Idaho.

A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Agnes's family with arrangements.
