Anne Yanos was born on August 28, 1920 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Adam and Mary Yanos. When she was a young girl, her family moved from Chicago to the Lublin area, where they bought and operated a farm. Anne was raised on the farm and received her education at Wildwood School. Later, as a teenager, she went to Chicago where she worked as a housekeeper and in a factory. Her family also moved back to Chicago. On November 28, 1941, Anne was united in marriage to Stanley Kaczmarek in Kahoka, MO. They made their home in Chicago, and during that time, Stanley served in the Army during WWII. In 1949, they moved back to Thorp and were partners with Stanley’s brother, Leon, in a tavern. They bought a farm near Lublin, in 1951, and farmed until Stanley’s death in 1972. Anne remained on the farm until 2007. She worked as a nurse’s aide and CNA at Victory Hospital in Stanley and then at the Clark County Health Care Center until her retirement.
Anne’s greatest joy was spending time cooking and caring for her family and friends. Her family especially loved her potato perogies. She was an energetic woman that loved doing her yard work, crocheting Afghans, and making her well-known hangers. Polka dancing was another favorite pastime and she spent many an hour at the local dances with friends. Her great energy and love for all will be so missed by all who knew her.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children: Bettie (Robert) Stopka of Stanley, Robert Kaczmarek of Hallsville, TX, Judy (James) Albert of Thorp, Joan (Douglas) Deuel of Thorp, Donna (William) Petrusczak of Lublin, Donald (Marlene) Kaczmarek of Withee; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen (Gus) Arvanatakis of Lake Geneva, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley, on May 27, 1972; and five brothers: Rudy Yanos, John "Corky" Yanos, Michael Yanos, Richard Yanos, and Leon Yanos in infancy.
