Strohkirch, Ernest #2 (27 OCT 1875 - 17 SEP 1951)
Ernest William Strohkirch passed away on Monday, Sept. 17th, 1951, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Wausau, following an illness of six weeks and a hospitalization period of 10 days.
Funeral services were held at two o’clock Friday, Sept. 21, 1951 from Griebenow’s Funeral Home, Owen. The final rites were conducted by Dr. K. O. Crosby with burial being made at Riverside Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Ted Hendricks, Arno Vater, Alfred Frost, William Veurink, Fred Johnson and Ewald Ammentorp.
In charge of the floral offerings were Mesdames Lucius Bowen, Ed Krahn, Kenneth Mathewson, Roy Auberg, Bernard Auberg, Leonard Johnson and Duane Rittenhouse.
Ernest William Strohkirch, 76, was born on Oct. 27, 1875 in Germany. When a youngster of five years of age he came to America with his parents. On April 3, 1902 at Hibbing, Minn., he and Delia Hynes were united in marriage. The two pursued the occupation of farming, living near Braham, Minn., for 10 years prior to moving to this community settling on a farm near Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), in the Town of Longwood, in 1914. In addition to being a successful farmer, Mr. Strohkirch was a devoted husband and further injected his constructive thinking and capabilities into public affairs. For many years he served the township as a member of the town board.
Seven years ago, in 1944, Mr. Strohkirch retired from farming, moving to Wausau where he had since resided.
His passing is mourned by his wife, six sons, Henry and Elmer of Wausau, Clarence, Paul and Russell of Owen, and Elmer of Braham, Minn.; two daughters, Mrs. Christ (Myrtle) Johnson, Chippewa Falls, and Mrs. Louis (Alice) Dabler, Mosinee, and 20 grandchildren. Also three brothers, Emil, Braham, Minn., Gust, Beroun, Minn., and Adolph, residing in the state of Oregon and two sisters, Mrs. Paul Scheele of Rusk City, Minn., and Mrs. August Gutzkon of Braham, Minn.
Relatives and friends from away attending the funeral services include Mr. and Mrs. Emil Strohkirch, Mr. and Mrs. August Gutzkon, Braham, Minn.; Mrs. Paul Scheele, Rusk City, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Gust Strohkirch and Mrs. Lester Lindgrin, Beroun, Minn.; Mr. Steve Mannausau, Loma, Minn.; George Strohkirch and Orville Strohkirch, St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Harold Nelson, rice Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Plessel, Eau Claire; Mrs. Wm. Nicolai, Mrs. Orville Smith, Mrs. John Monk and Mrs. Verne Paddock, Chippewa Falls, Wis.
