Weideman, Erma (JUN 1949? - 30 SEP 1951)

Little Erma (Irma?) Weideman, 27-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Weideman, route 1, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away Sunday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The youngster had been under vigil care there ever since a week ago Saturday night when she suffered burns to more than seventy-five percent of her body when she sat in a pail of boiling water in the kitchen of her home. Her mother had heated the water to use in scalding chickens in the basement. One pail had been set on the floor while a second one was removed from the kitchen stove. Mrs. Weideman was unaware of her daughter’s presence in the kitchen at the time of the accident.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen. Father Raymond Bornbach officiated at the final rites. Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.

Pallbearers were young members of the congregation and close friends of the family, Thomas Allen, David Devine, James Sailer and Tony Pogodzinski. Those in charge of the floral offerings were Mary Conzemius, Rita and Barbara Capes and Irene Christman.

Erma is survived by her parents, and 12 sisters and brothers, Paulette Weideman, home; Mrs. James Gummerson, Owen, Jimmy Boening, now in Korea; Mary Jane Schmidt, Granton; Caroline Boening, Battle Creek, Mich.; Veryle Krueger, Rockford, Ill.; Irene Moore, Benton, Mich.; Donald Weideman at home; Adine Weidman, Chicago, Ill.; Ralph Weideman, serving in the Navy, and Jimmy Weideman who is at home.
