Gay, Carl (12 OCT 1868 - 2 OCT 1951)
Tomorrow afternoon at two o’clock funeral services will be held at the Griebenow Funeral Parlors for Carl Gay, 83, Dr. K. O. Crosby will officiate at the final rites. Burial will be made at Riverside Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ed Sluzewski, Claire Southworth, Albin Kurtinoitis, Tony Norysiewicz, Felix Kasocki and Leon Zielanis.
Carl Gay passed away Tuesday morning at the Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley, where he has had hospitalization for some time. His health had been failing for the past several months.
The deceased was born on Oct. 12, 1868 in Cracow Province, Poland.
On Feb. 6, 1897 he and Rose Skowranek were united in marriage in Cracow.
When 35 years of age the couple came to America, settling in the city of Chicago. Her he was engaged in the tailoring business. After residing in Chicago for six years he and his family moved to Taylor county, continuing his tailoring trade. In 1922 the family moved to a farm in northern Clark County with Mr. Gay pursuing this occupation until his retirement 20 years later. For the past two years he and his widow have resided on a son Ted’s farm just north of Owen on "DD."
Surviving him are his wife, two sons, Ted, Owen, and Frank, Withee’ five daughters, Mrs. D. C. (Mae) Paterson, Chicago, Ill.; Caroline Teclaw, Owen; Mrs. William (Rose) Milewski, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Jack (Wanda) Kaczor, Withee, and Mrs. Alfred (Josephine) Arndt, Withee; and 16 grandchildren. Also two brothers, Peter of Gilman, Wis.; and Albert, Chicago; and three sisters, Katie, Patricia and Pauline, all still living in Poland.
