Severson, Mr. and Mrs. Vern

Mr. and Mrs. Vern A. Severson of Rt. 3
Greenwood were honored at an open house Saturday afternoon, June 5. The
celebration, attended by more than 150 relatives and friends, was in honor of
their Golden wedding anniversary and was hosted by their five children.
Vern Severson and Luella Stabnow were married June 8, 1921, at the home of her
parents in the Town of Beaver by the Rev. Art F. Perkins, pastor of the
Methodist Church of Spencer.
The home was decorated with yellow bells and
streamers. The table was centered with a three-tiered cake with a gold 50
symbol, flanked by bowls of yellow carnations. The couple wore a corsage and
boutonniere of yellow carnations sprayed in gold. They received a money tree
from their children and monetary and other gifts and congratulatory cards.
Mr. Severson was born February 27, 1898, in the Town of Eaton, the son of
John and Edith (Larson) Severson of Greenwood. He attended the Christopherson
School. His hobbies are hunting and fishing.
Mrs. Severson, daughter of
August F. and Rachel (Ward) Stabnow, was born November 1, 1901, in the Town of
Beaver. She attended the La Tart and Greenwood schools. She enjoys her flower
garden and does fancy work. Both Mr. and Mrs. Severson are in good health. They
are members of the West Beaver Chapel.
After their marriage they lived
for five years in Loyal, where he followed the stone mason trade, and they they
resided in the Town of Loyal for five years. In 1931 they moved to their present
farm in the Town of Beaver.
The Seversons are the parents of two sons and
three daughters, Lester of Rt. 3 Greenwood, Mrs. Harold (Vera) Heck of
Greenwood, Mrs. Ralph (Ethel) Thomas of Loyal, Mrs. George (Alice) Scott of
Crystal Lake, Ill., and Douglas of Des Plaines, Ill. There also are 14
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. All were present except one
grandson, Kenneth Severson, who is in service in Germany.
The original
attendants were her brother, Leroy Stabnow (deceased) and Hazel Leighton.
Relatives from a distance attending were their children and families, Mr.
and Mrs. Douglas Severson and Cheri Ann, Des Plaines, ill.; Mr. and Mrs. George
Scott, Penny, Camy and Randy, Crystal Lake, Ill; his sister and husband, Mr. and
Mrs. Tony Passarelli, also Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Laykovich and Mr. and Mrs. James
Bruening, Laurie and Jeff, Milwaukee; his sister-in-law, Mrs. Floyd Severson,
and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Severson and four daughters of Prescott; Mr. and Mrs.
John Severson and three sons of Neshkoro; his aunt, Mrs. Helma Salzwedel of
Rhinelander; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lampi and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Lindgren of
Chicago; Mrs. Patsy Ann Pasch of Wisconsin Dells; and Many other relatives and
friends from the surrounding communities.
