Stump, Bernice (15 July 1915 - 25 Sept. 1946)
Funeral services for Miss Bernice Stump, 31, who died Wednesday, will be held at the Presbyterian church, Saturday afternoon, at 2:00 o’clock, with the Rev. George E. Griffiths officiating. Burial will be made in Evergreen cemetery, Medford. The body is lying in state at the Zink Funeral Home, where it will be until Saturday noon.
Bernice Stump was born at Westboro, July 15, 1915, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George M. Stump. In 1918 the family moved to Abbotsford where she received her grade and high school education, graduating with the class of 1933.
During the war years, Miss Stump did civil service work for the navy, working in New York and Virginia. In August of last year she went to Melbourne, Fla. And worked in the office there for the navy supply depot.
While in Florida she was taken seriously ill on Dec. 28, from which time she was confined to her bed. She was brought to Wausau Feb. 11 where she was a patient for three weeks and was then brought here and was cared for constantly by her mother and father. Death came at 11:30 on Wednesday morning, caused by acute nephritis.
Besides her parents, she leaves an only brother, Major Le Roy Stump, who sailed Wednesday for Korea. She has one niece, Miss Mary Lu Stump, of Baraboo.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Floyd, 8, who was accidentally drowned, and Robert, who died of infantile paralysis at the age of eight months.

Funeral services for Miss Bernice Stump, who died Wednesday morning, were held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, at the Presbyterian church, with the Rev. G. E. Griffiths officiating. During the services, which were attended by a large number of friends, the hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Nearer My God To Thee," were sung by the Misses Jessie Merrill and Joyce Merwin, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. W. R. Berger.
The many beautiful floral tributes were carried by the following ladies of the Royal Neighbors: Mmes. L. K. Neitzel, Norma Johnson, Fred Earl, J. A. Rilling, Elmer Schraufnagel, Arlyn Brunkhorst, Ervin Bitter, Ben Laabs, and Miss Althea Rilling.
The pallbearers were M. N. Hutt, Edwin Fults, Harold Kalepp, Gilbert Kattre, Louis Kleinstick and Howard Speck.
Internment was made in the Medford cemetery.
Among the relatives and friends from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. William Barrenger and Miss Mary Kungelman, Baraboo; Mr. and Mrs. Art Gotschalk, New London; John Bogumill, Thorp; A. J. Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Moore, Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Kattre, Chippewa Falls; and Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Adams, Chicago.
