Rabenstein, Gretchen #2 (26 DEC 1907)
Thursday evening an exceptionally pretty home wedding occurred in which one of Neillsville’s (Clark Co., Wis.) fairest daughters and a prominent young gentleman of Ft. Atkinson were principals. At eight o’clock Miss Imig and Miss Whitcomb played the wedding march and Judge James O’Neill spoke the words which untied LaVerne C. Gillard and Miss Gretchen Rabenstein for better or for worse. The services were according to Episcopal rites. Howard Maule of Mukwonago, a school friend of the groom, and Miss Elona Wolff were the bridal attendants. Sixty guests were present and at ten o’clock they sat down to a sumptuous banquet. The table and house decorations were of smilax and roses. The young couple left at midnight for an extensive wedding trip and will be at home at Ft. Atkinson after Jan. 15.
Mrs. Gillard is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Rabenstein and is a handsome and accomplished young lady. She was educated in the Neillsville High School and Milwaukee Downer College and has acquired all that goes to make up a social and intellectual favorite. Mr. Gillard is assistant manager of the Kent Manufacturing Co. and is a young man of highest business acumen and integrity. That the home of the young couple will be a happy and contented one goes without saying, and it is the wish of their many friends that this union, made at such an auspicious moment, will be prosperous to an unusual degree.
