My ancestor, Lyman H Tucker, was a logger living at Frankville (Hatfield), Levis township, in the 1870 census. His brother-in-law, Jacob Vannatter, lived with him; his occupation is listed as working at the Pinery. I'm wondering which Pinery that would be? I haven't found a reference to a Pinery or lumbermill in that area.

The 1870 Levis Census (recorded above) lists Lyman Tucker (age 65) & Jacob Vannatter (age 30) and their families living in the Dells Dam area of Levis Twnshp. (near many of this writer's ancestors)
The occupation for Tucker was listed as "Lumberman" and for Vannatter "Works in Pinery"
Neither Tucker nor Vannatter had RE value on the 1870 census but Tucker had 3500 in Per Property and Vannatter had 250 in Per Property. More than likely Tucker's personal property was largly tied up in timber related assets that he used or leased to pinery and mill operations.
In 1870 much of Levis was still in timber and there were many timber land speculators there. Tucker and Vannater lived near French's Mill so they might have worked there. They also could have worked their own leased timber property for a larger firm.
