Romfoe, Edythe Lorraine (Marriage - 15 Dec. 1946)
Zion Evangelical church at Gilman was the scene of the wedding of Miss Edythe Lorraine Romfoe, Gilman, and Reuben F. Burtard, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Burtard, Curtiss. The Rev. C. A. Rathjen, Sheldon, officiated at the ceremony, read Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m. Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Jay T. Bucy, nephew and niece of the groom.
For her wedding the bride wore a cinnamon brown wool crepe suit, brown and lime green accessories, and a corsage of white roses. Mrs. Bucy was attired in a green wool suit with black accessories. Pink, white, and red carnations composed her shoulder corsage.
After a week’s honeymoon spent in Milwaukee, the couple will reside at Gilman where Mr. Burtard is agriculture teacher in the Gilman high school. Mrs. Burtard was graduated from the Gilman high school in 1940 and is a clerk and bookkeeper at Gilman. Her husband was graduated from the Abbotsford high school in 1938 and from River Falls State Teachers’ College in 1942. He entered military training in June of that year and was instructed in chemical warfare and then referred to officers’ training school. He was graduated and commissioned in December, 1942, and served overseas in New Guinea, the Philippines, and Nagoya, Japan. He was granted his discharge from Camp McCoy, March 1, 1946.
