Smith, Geraldine A. (1 Aug. 1934 - 4 May 2009)

MONROE -- Geraldine A. "Jerry" Smith, 74, of Monroe died Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital.

She was born Aug. 1, 1934, the daughter of John and Aurilla (Staffeil) Bowen, in Abbotsford, Wis. She was a graduate of Colby High School. In August 1952, Geraldine and Clifford Smith were married at the Zion Lutheran Church in Colby, who she later divorced. Jerry is retired from working at Total Water in Madison, where she worked for many years.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Naomi Circle; and a member of the Sons of Norway.

Surviving is her mother, Aurilla Bowen of Colby; children, Marvin (Pam) Smith of Sun Prairie, Cathy Smith of Monroe, and Scheree (Charles) Krueger of Sun Prairie; grandchildren, Shawn (Tricia) Smith, Nikalas Krueger, Daccia Krueger, Laura Thompson, all of Sun Prairie; great-grandchildren, Carley and Kiera Smith of Sun Prairie; sister, Shirley (Michael) Wiese of Colby; and a niece and a nephew.

She is predeceased by her father, John Bowen.

A memorial service will also be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Colby, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home is serving the family in the Colby area.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Jerry's memory.
