Pallbearers were Clarence Dolan, Bill Kozlowski, Myron Kramer, Malcolm Lamont, Vern Steffen and Louis Steiner.

The flowers were carried by five nieces: Mrs. Leo Hilber and Mrs. Tony Switlick, of Abbotsford, and three nieces of Little Chute, and Mrs. George Kelley, of Abbotsford, Wis.

Peter Ven Rooy was born Feb. 11, 1878, at Freedom, Wis., one of a family of 13 children, having three brothers and nine sisters.

For a number of years he helped his father on the farm and also worked in the paper mills in Kaukauna.

On Nov. 25, 1905, he was united in marriage to Magdalene Schommer. To this union were born 13 children, five sons and eight daughters.

For three years the young couple lived on a farm near Little Chute and then came to a farm southeast of Abbotsford where they lived until they sold it four years ago, and moved to Abbotsford, Wis.

After Mrs. Ven Rooy’s death on April 8, 1943, Mr. Ven Rooy continued [phrase illegible] when he made his home with his son, Norbert.

On Thursday morning, he attended mass and was about his regular activities, but Friday morning he was not feeling well and death occurred at 1:30 in the afternoon, caused by a heart attack.

He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic congregation and of the Holy Name Society.

Besides Mrs. Ven Rooy, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rita.

The 12 surviving children are John, Rockford, Ill.; Lambert and William, Milwaukee; Norbert, Abbotsford; Mrs. Thurm (Cecelia) Denson, Madison; Mrs. Anton (Magdalene) Schjonneman, Unity; Mrs. Harry (Margaret) Miller, Rochelle, Ill.; Mrs. Charles (Josephine) Mow, Chicago; Mrs. Victor (Harriet) Boss, Abbotsford; Mrs. Russell (Gertrude) Stevens, Milledgville, Ill.; Miss Rose Ven Rooy, Madison; and Harold, Chicago.

There are 19 grandchildren.

A large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral among whom were all the surviving children, three sons-in-law, Mr. Denson, Mr. Miller and Mr. Stevens, and three daughters-in-law, Mrs. Norbert Ven Rooy, Mrs. Harold Ven Rooy and Mrs. William Ven Rooy and two sons.
