COLBY -- Bernard Raymond Wavrunek, 70, Colby, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby, Wis. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, town of Colby, Wis.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home, Colby, and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time.

COLBY -- Bernard Raymond Wavrunek, 70, of Colby, Wisconsin died Friday, May 8, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, lovingly surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Colby, Wis.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, town of Colby, Wis. Father Rajendran Anandan will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mike Wavrunek, Joe Wavrunek, Tim Wavrunek, Chuck Wavrunek, Ken Wavrunek and Ethan Bell.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home, in Colby, where the rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until service time at the church Tuesday.
Bernie was born Jan. 21, 1939, in Neillsville to Joseph and Edna (Collins) Wavrunek. He graduated from Neillsville High School. He was a member of the Brothers of Pius X for six years.
Bernie and Marian Ohlinger were married May 22, 1965, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He worked as an orderly at St. Joseph's Hospital, and for Hedler's Supermarket, in Colby; he was also employed by Woodrow Tesmer at Lulloff Furniture and Funeral Home. He continued to work for Rux Furniture and Funeral Home, until opening his own business, Awards and Framing by Bernie. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he served as an usher and was a member of the men's choir and the Knights of Columbus. He served as sexton for the Colby Memorial Cemetery for a number of years and was active in numerous community activities, including the Chamber of Commerce.
He enjoyed drinking coffee, playing cards with his friends and spending time with his grandchildren.
Bernie is lovingly survived by his wife, Marian of Colby; his children, Mike Wavrunek of Dorchester, Joe (Julie) Wavrunek of Eagan, Minn., Connie (Paul Dean) Wavrunek of Marshfield, Tim Wavrunek of Eau Claire, Bobbi (Tony) Abney of Marshfield, Chuck (Bre) Wavrunek of Weston, Sherri (Jeremy) Kohlbeck of Las Cruces, N.M., Ken (Melissa) Wavrunek of Newman, Ga., Vicki (Jamie) Ploeckelman of Abbotsford, and Karen Wavrunek of Bloomington, Minn.; 19 grandchildren; and his brothers and sisters Audrey (Norbert) Speir of Ripon, Tom (Joan) Wavrunek of Neillsville, James Wavrunek of New Holstein, and Kathy (Arnie) Pichler of Eau Claire.
His parents preceded him in death.
