Zukowski, John (27 DEC 1884 - 3 APR 1952)
John Zukowski, 67, died at the Norwegian-American Hospital at Chicago on April 3rd, 1952 of a cerebral hemorrhage.
The body was brought here (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.) last Friday and lay in state at the Thorp Funeral Home until the time of the funeral.
The deceased, who was born in Poland on Dec. 27, 1884, came to this country in June 1901 and located on a farm near Thorp where he resided until 1950, when he went to Chicago to stay with his daughter. Several years ago he suffered a stroke from which he never entirely recovered.
He was united in marriage to Catherine Hoffman at St. Hedwig’s Church, Thorp, in November 1907. She preceded him in death.
Surviving relatives are: two sons, Felix of Gilman and Tony of Chicago; five daughters, Diane, Mrs. John Bielecki, Thorp, Veronica, Mrs. George Grabowski and Alyce, Mrs. Frank Cervenka, Chicago, Clara, Mrs. Adam Fudala, Gilman and Dorothy, Mrs. Pete Asselin of Thorp; three brothers, Louis and Peter Zukowski of Thorp and Frank of Chicago, two sisters, Tillie Zukowski and Mary, Mrs. Joe Jarocki of Thorp, and Frank of Chicago.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Francis Piekarski, assisted by Rev. Herbert Zuromski and Rev. Jerome Kamla, at St. Hedwig’s Church at ten o’clock April 7th, with burial in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Victor Zielinski, Joe Panek, Peter Wnek, Ig. Przybylski, Joe Kobylarczyk and Joe Moczarny.
