Selby, William H. (5 MAR 1923 - 18 JUL 1952)

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 22, by Rev. Francis Penny from St. Anthony Church for William henry Selby, who died at Cody, Wyoming hospital, Friday, July 18, 1952.

He had been kicked by a horse June 9 at Blackwater Lodge on North fork where he made his home, and died as a result.

Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Selby was born March 5, 1923, to John and Helen Selby at Cable, Wis.

At the age of 12 his father died. Mr. Selby attended grade school at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). He later was a mechanic, and in 1942 entered the Air Force at San Francisco. In Sept. 1944 served overseas in China, Burma, India Theatre and was honorably discharged July 17, 1945 at Fort Logan, Colorado. At this time he came to Cody, being employed on the construction at Heart Mountain Power Station and was injured.

In 1948 he was married to Jean Brahler and one son was born, Randolph Carl, who survives him, and also his wife Jean. A daughter, Barbara Jean, a son William Henry Jr., by a previous married, living in Tennessee. His mother and a brother of Highland, Indiana, Bro. John of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Szymanski, Mrs. August Oberle, Thorp, Wis., Mrs. Frank Kundo of Wausau, Wis.

Recitation of the Rosary was held Monday eve at Ballard funeral home. Requiem High mass was held at St. Anthony Catholic Church Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. with military honors being accorded by the V.F.W. at the graveside.

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, American Legion and American Cets.

Escorts were Hiram Thompson, George King, F. O. Sauzenbacker, Richard Krauz, Gordon Hall and Floyd Stillings.
