Lewandowski, Helen (2 AUG 1952)
St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Thorp, provided the setting on Aug. 2, 1952 for the marriage of Miss Helen Lewandowski, Milwaukee, daughter of Mrs. Susan Lewandowski, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Cpl. John C. Leibelt, Camp McCoy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Leibelt, route 4, Marshfield. The Rev. Fr. Piekarski officiated.
A bodice of Chantilly lace and satin topped the bouffant nylon double net skirt of the grown worn by the bride. The bodice featured long tapering sleeves and a nylon yoke that created an off the shoulder effect. Lace appliqués accented the neckline and were effectively rpeated in the net ballerina length skirt. Her French imported silk illusion veil edged with lace to match her gown billowed from a satin Dutch bonnet. Two white orchids with colored lips topped the prayer book she held in her hands. White satin streamers with sprigs of green completed her bouquet.
Miss Constance Lewandowski, Milwaukee, in an orchid colored strapless ballerina length frock worn with a net stole, was her sister’s only attendant. The net over taffeta skirt was accented with frosted flowers. Completing her ensemble were a matching picture hat and a bouquet of orchid daisies and yellow rosebuds.
Robert Lewandowski was best man. Gordon and Frank Sopiarz, Milwaukee, both brothers-in-law, were ushers.
White lace trimmed the pink dress worn by the bride’s mother, while Mrs. Leibelt was present in a nvy blue crepe dress. Both mothers had identical corsages composed of yellow rosebud and white carnations.
Following the church ceremony the newlyweds greeted guests at a reception on the lawn of the Vern Lewandowski home. Dinner and supper were served there to about 60 relatives and friends. Their honeymoon was spent in northern Wisconsin.
Mrs. Leibelt, a graduate of Thorp High School and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, Wausau, follows her profession in the Milwaukee County Hospital. Prior to his military service, Cpl. Leibelt, a graduate of Marshfield High School, was employed as a laboratory technician at the Consolidated Water Power and Paper Co., Wis. Rapids. At present he is serving in the personnel and finance section for the 32nd Engineers Battalion at Camp McCoy.
Upon his discharged, the couple will take up residence in Wis. Rapids.
