Zajaczkowski, John (15 MAY 1889 - 20 AUG 1952)

Funeral services were held at ten a.m. Monday at St. Hedwig’s Church for John Zajaczkowski, 63, who passed away Aug. 20th, 1952 of a cerebral hemorrhage at the hospital at Stanley, where he has been a patient for one and one half days. The requiem mass was sung by Father Francis Piekarski, assisted by Father Hebert Zoromski and Father Ernest Kaim.

The deceased was born in Poland on May 15, 1889. He came to America in April 1913 and located in Chicago, Ill. On Nov. 19, 1918 he was united in marriage to Pauline Czech at St. Stanislaus Church, Lublin, Wis. He continued to live in Chicago until 1927 when he purchased a farm north of this city (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.) in the town of Thorp, and resided there until death.

Although he had been obliged to avoid heavy work the past two years by doctor’s advice, he had been in fairly good health up until last Tuesday. Mr. Zajaczkowski was a member of the local group No. 646 of the Polish National Alliance, also belonging to St. Joseph’s Society of St. Hedwig’s Church and St. Paul’s P.R.C.U.

He is survived by his widow and one son, Chester of Thorp, two sisters, Maryann Kaplan and Pauline Ryszkowski in Poland. One son, Edward, and two brothers preceded him in death.

He was laid to rest in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph Moczarny, John Balcer, Basil Harycki, Frank Sierociuk, George Warolec and Mike Kaminski.

Friends and relatives from out of town who were here to attend the funeral were: Daniel Dulek, Mr. and Mrs. John Zajac and son, Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mielnikowski and son Eugene, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Targowski and son, Mrs. Bernard Strenski and son, Mrs. Jean Strenski, Mr. and Mrs. John Sokolowski, Mr. and Mrs. Steven Krych and son, Frank Malasuk, Mr. and Mrs. steven Buczkowski, Mrs. Edward Grodoski, Mr. and Mrs. C. Kisieluk, Mrs. C. Kozelek, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. John Zajac and son Frank, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Puctel and Joe Adamczyk of Minneapolis and Mr. and Mrs. John Czech and family of Hannibal.
